Pariah Dog, Calcutta
I realise this is an invitation for a good old slagging off...

Pariah Dog is a documentary film about Calcutta's street dogs, of which there are over 100,000. It was made by an American fellow called Jesse Alk who has been struggling like anything for the last few years to get the film finished.

On Friday, it won Best Feature in a documentary film festival in the States.

If you've been to India, you'll recognise these dogs from any city, town or village. Sometimes they don't look very nice - they are often mangy, can be aggressive and carry rabies. Their reputation is not good. But they are fantastic animals. In the right hands, they are as loving and loyal as any other kind of dog.

Here's the trailer: https://vimeo.com/316360791?fbclid=IwAR1jE6BQpuh43jPvF9kn1GZHqwyo1Qp0gFMC4MSL8dbnox5lrDlJQ71jB2U

Re: Pariah Dog, Calcutta
I probably can't, but can I admit to liking cats AND dogs or does that make me a gay right-wing Communist?

Seeing a dog is one of the very few things in life that makes me spontaneously smile and when I am sitting watching telly and my cat jumps into the sofa, nuts me in the side and curls up in my arms for a fuss it lifts my day and my usually bad mood. Sometimes it even stops me shouting at the TV news.

Most animals are preferable to most of you cunts on here with a couple of exceptions.

It's true that dogs (and cats*) subvert our over-clean environments and expose us to allergens at an age when we need to be exposed if we're not to develop allergies.

It's by no means guaranteed, but, statistically, people who were children in families with these pets are less likely to have abnormal immune responses.

*I hate saying something positive about cats

They've usually licked their faeces before they lick their owners face. I would not put it past some owners to be licking their dog's faeces either. Filthy fuckers.

Dogs are disgusting, dirty creatures. The only thing worse is their owners who let them lick their faces

We have both.

Dogs - gormless needy circus acts - Her kind of pet.

Cats - wonderfully independent with an occasional glare which simply says 'feed me, you inadequate cunt' - My kind of pet.

Re: Pariah Dog, Calcutta
That's not fair on cats.

They used to steal our children and eat them.

We had to evolve to sort them out.

Looks like a good film that, cheers Coffee.

Any human who doesn't like dogs, is at the vey least a bit weird or ignorant. The realationship between our species, and the influence they've had on our evolution is mind-blowing.

Now cats, on the other hand........

My grandad would have sorted this issue out with a bucket of water and his trusty shotgun.

He was a killing machine for strays.
